What is Oracle Data Integrator?
The ODI can be integrated as a plug-in of the Oracle Fusion Middleware application server (OBIEE, Hyperion Essbase, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle Hyperion Planning) or fitted as a separate tool which sits on top of (usually but not necessarily) an Oracle database.
Data integration provides a common, reliable method of linking, transforming and managing various forms of information for procedures such as planning, forecasting and budgeting. It is the foundation for many IT initiatives including big data analytics, modernisation and cloud computing.
What does Oracle Data Integrator provide to the end user?
Oracle has constructed a layered suite of technology that delivers universal and timely access to trusted data across diverse systems.
Do you require:
- real-time, bulk data integration or movement,
- data transformation,
- bidirectional replication,
- data services,
- data virtualisation or data quality;
Oracle Data Integrator holds the answers. The main purpose of ODI is to deliver the ETL functionality; copying structured data from point A to point B, with optional transformations in between.
Data integration technology gives you a common, consistent way to aggregate, link, transform and manage all types of data, from any source, in order to achieve continuous access to trusted data across heterogeneous systems. This data allows top level to obtain a more complete picture of the business and is a must-have technology for innovative IT environments.
